Underage tobacco possession

Boy and girls smoking on trail: A Stow boy, 17, and a Stow girl and Cuyahoga Falls girl, both 15, were charged with underage tobacco possession after a Stow police officer said that while on foot patrol, he saw the boy and girls smoking on the Wellness Trail near the Stow City Center at about 6:30 p.m. Aug. 22. The boy and girls were referred to Stow Youth Services in lieu of filing the charge in Summit County Juvenile Court and each was released to a parent.

Violating a

protection order

Man arrested by Wooster police: Wooster police reported Aug. 21 that they had in custody a Wooster man, 38, wanted by Stow Municipal Court on a first-degree misdemeanor violating a protection order charge filed by Stow police. Police said the charge was in connection with an allegation that the man called an unidentified person. According to court records, the man pleaded not guilty later that day, then was released without bond from the court due to a reported medical condition.

Dog at large

Man cited after dog gets loose: A man, 28, was cited with dog at large after police said his dog escaped for awhile from his property in Darrow Road's 4900 block in the late evening Aug. 21.

Driving under suspension

Man wanted on warrant: A Ravenna man, 50, was charged with driving under suspension after he was stopped on Steels Pointe Drive at Steels Corners Road at about 11 p.m. Aug. 20. The man was then turned over to Cuyahoga Falls police on an arrest warrant.

Arrest warrant

Man arrested at home: Stow police arrested an 18-year-old Crabapple Circle man at his home Aug. 20 and turned him over to Kent police on an arrest warrant related to marijuana possession citations.

Underage consumption

of alcohol

Akron residents arrested: Four Akron residents, including two men, ages 18 and 19, an 18-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy, were charged with first-degree misdemeanor underage consumption of alcohol in connection with an allegation that they were drinking in Prescott Downs 2700 block in the late evening Aug. 19. The men and woman were given summons to appear in Stow Municipal Court and released and the boy was given a summons to appear in Summit County Juvenile Court and released to a parent.


Warrant issued for man: A Kent man, 36, was charged with misdemeanor theft after an employee of a store in Kent Road's 4300 block reported the man tried to take clothing and electronics totaling more than $130 in value Aug. 18. The man was summoned to appear in Stow Municipal Court and released. According to court records, an arrest warrant was issued for the man Aug. 23 after he failed to appear in court.

Criminal mischief

Man owed fines and court costs: Kent police reported on Aug. 17 that they had in custody a 20-year-old Kent Road man wanted by Stow Municipal Court for failure to comply with a court order to pay fines and court costs in connection with his June 17 guilty plea to third-degree misdemeanor criminal mischief. According to court records, the man owed about $1,600 as of Aug. 9.

Police said the charge stemmed from an incident this past April 17 in which a woman reported seeing the man letting a then 11-year-old Akron boy drive a vehicle around the parking lot of the man's apartment complex. Police said the woman recorded video of the incident and the man was arrested at his home several days later.

Drug abuse

Women charged with felonies: A Spencers Run woman and a Munroe Falls woman, both 20, were each charged with two counts of fifth-degree felony drug abuse and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession in connection with the Spencers Run woman's drug overdose at her home in early July, during which the Munroe Falls woman was present. Police said the felonies were related to alleged heroin and carfentanil use and the misdemeanor to syringes found at the scene.

The Spencers Run woman turned herself in at the Stow Police Department Aug. 16 and Fairlawn police turned the Munroe Falls woman over the next day after identifying her during an investigation of several suspicious people at a park. Both women were released on personal bonds after their arrest.

Drug paraphernalia possession

Woman cited during traffic stop: A Ritchie Road woman, 45, was cited with drug paraphernalia possession, illegal license plates and improper change of course after police stopped her on Fishcreek Road at Colony Park at about 2:30 a.m. Aug. 11. Police said they found a meth pipe in the woman's vehicle. According to Stow Municipal Court records, she pleaded not guilty to the citations Aug. 17.

Marijuana possession

Marijuana found in vehicle: A Cuyahoga Falls man, 21, was charged with driving under suspension and marijuana possession after police stopped him on Graham Road at Baumberger Road at 2:10 a.m. Aug. 8. Police said they found a small amount of marijuana in his vehicle. According to Stow Municipal Court records, the man pleaded not guilty to the charges Aug. 10.

Suspicious situations

Dog barked at garage: A man reported he believed someone may have entered his garage in Charring Cross Circle's 300 block while he was out walking his dog in the early evening Aug. 23 after he returned home and his dog began barking as they approached the garage. Police said that when they investigated, they found the garage was locked and no one inside.

Vehicle occupants playing game: Police said that while investigating a suspicious vehicle in Brust Park at about 1 a.m. Aug. 19, they discovered the two unidentified vehicle occupants were there playing Pokemon Go. Police said they told the occupants the park was closed.

Woman reported to be disoriented: The owner of a North Main Street business reported that an unknown woman who seemed disoriented came into the business at about 8 p.m. Aug. 18, asked for payment for an unidentified product, then left in an SUV. Police said the business owner was unable to provide the vehicle's license plate number.

Missing person

Girl found safe: Police said that after a Munroe Falls man reported his 6-year-old daughter was missing in the afternoon Aug. 22, it was discovered she had gotten on the wrong school bus at Riverview Elementary School. Police said she was returned safely to her father.

Possible attempted theft

Gas cap found hanging: A woman reported she believed someone tried to steal gasoline from her vehicle while it was in her unlocked garage in Alta Drive's 100 block after she went out to the garage at about 3:30 a.m. and discovered the vehicle's fuel door open and gas cap hanging. The woman said no gasoline was missing.

Police said they believed the woman forgot to put the gas cap back on when she filled the vehicle's tank a few hours earlier, but the woman said she was certain she had put it back on.

Drug paraphernalia possession

Woman charged during traffic stop: An Akron woman, 21, was charged with drug paraphernalia possession and driving with an expired license after she was stopped for a turn signal violation on South Main Street at Castle Drive at about 9:50 p.m. Aug. 22. Police said they found a smoking device with suspected burnt marijuana residue in it in the woman's vehicle. She was summoned to appear in Munroe Falls Mayor's Court and released.

Traffic complaint

Vehicle seen swerving: Police said they responded to Munroe Falls Avenue near Route 91 at about 5:25 p.m. Aug. 19 after receiving a report that a vehicle was moving slowly and swerving. Police said they searched the area, but were unable to find the vehicle.

Marijuana possession

Police smell marijuana: An Archwood Avenue man, 22, was charged with marijuana possession and driving under suspension after police stopped him on Hiwood Avenue at Crestview Drive at about 7:25 p.m. Aug. 18. Police said they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and found a marijuana blunt in it. The man was given a summons to appear in Munroe Falls Mayor's Court and released.


Woman finds empties in creek: A Barton Drive woman reported Aug. 17 that since Aug. 1 someone left 10 empty cans and an empty bottle, mostly alcoholic beverage containers, in a creek that runs through her property.

Woman charged during traffic stop: A Kent woman, 18, was charged with underage possession of alcohol after police said they stopped the woman for speeding on North River Road at the city limits with Stow at about 11:50 p.m. Aug. 17 and saw a bottle of alcohol in plain sight in her vehicle. The woman was given a summons to appear in Munroe Falls Mayor's Court and released.
