Tree of Life Art Workshop

Join us on Wednesday, April 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. as Art Historian Felicia Stadelman presents an interactive art program in which you will learn about the artist Gustav Klimt. Using rhinestones and gold paint, you will re-create Klimt'sThe Tree of Life. Discover your inner artist with step-by-step instruction. To register, call 330-688-3295 ext. 4 or visitwww.smfpl.org. Amulet Comics Are Awesome

Drop in Tuesday, April 18 between 6 and 8 p.m. for this activity program based on the popular comic book series, Amulet, by Kazu Kibuishi. Enter a drawing for a chance to win your own full set of Amulet comic books! You can also make your own amulet necklace from supplies provided by the library. Play our guessing game: try to determine which Amulet characters have been turned into large-scale silhouettes. Also, do you need new ideas for what to read? We'll have a table of books similar to Amulet that you might enjoy, and a librarian will be there to tell you more about individual titles or series. Kids can dress up like Amulet characters, explore the book website where you can play trivia, pick a super hero name for yourself from our list of random words, and hang out. Geared toward grades 3 to 6, but all ages are welcome. No registration required.

Celebrate National Library Week

Check out 10 or more items during National Library Week (Sunday, April 9 - Saturday, April 15), and enter to win a reading-themed key chain. Winners will be drawn on Monday, April 17. Four prizes will be awarded. Good luck!

Meet Les Roberts at the Friends Annual Meeting

Join mystery author Les Roberts on Tuesday, May 16 at *6:30 p.m. as he presentsGetting Away with Murderat the Friends of the Library Annual Meeting.During his talk, Les will reveal how and why he writes mysteries. Books will be available for purchase and signing.*At 6 p.m. a short business meeting will be held prior to the presentation. Light refreshments will be served. Spanish Conversation Group

Feeling a little bit rusty on your Spanish-speaking skills? Come join Maria Brett, a native speaker, to brush up on your espaol on Friday, April 21 at 3 p.m. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and to converse in a comfortable, relaxed environment. This class is held in our first-floor Conference Room. No registration necessary.

Chess Club

Chess Club is for youths ages 5 to 17, who are familiar with the basic rules of chess. The next session is Monday, April 17. No signup necessary. Teaching is from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Game play begins at 7 p.m. Parents of children under 12 years old must remain in the library.

Red Cross Blood Drive

The American Red Cross will have a Blood Drive on Monday, April 24 from 1 7 p.m. in the Stow-Munroe Falls Room. Thank you for donating.

Bow Wow Book Buddies

K-6th grade kids can read to our therapy dogs on Sunday, April 9 and 23 at 1:30 p.m. This helps children build confidence in their reading ability with this impartial audience. No registration required. Sign up for a 15 minute timeslot when you arrive. Bring your favorite book or choose one of ours.

Bridge Club

Join us for cards and conversation on April 10. Players should arrive at 12:45 and bridge will begin promptly at 1 p.m. in the Stow Room at the library. There is no fee to join the club, but a small collection will be taken for refreshments. We will play as many hands as possible and finish by approximately 3:30 p.m. As a courtesy to all the players, please do not plan to leave early.

Wednesday Movies

in April

Join us for popcorn and a movie on the big screen as we present films on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. The dates are April 12 and 19. Due to the terms of our license, we can't advertise the title of the movie here. Please call the library at 330-688-3295 ext. 4 to find out what's playing, or pick up a flier in our library.

11th Annual Dessert

Extravaganza

The 11th Annual Dessert Extravaganza hosted by the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library Foundation will be at the Roses Run Country Club on April 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. The Dessert Extravaganza is an event where bakeries, restaurants and library patrons come together to improve the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library. Tickets will be available at the Circulation Desk.

Ticket price includes one wine or beer and the chance to win a sterling silver amethyst and pink topaz earring and ring set valued at $900. The jewelry is donated by Abshire & Haylan Jewelers in Stow.

Bob Evans Fundraiser for Library Foundation

Support the Stow-Munroe Falls Public Library Foundation as you enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner at Bob Evans on the first Monday of the month. Bob Evans, located at 3489 Hudson Drive in Stow, will be hosting a community fundraiser to benefit the Library Foundation. From 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. on these particular Mondays, Bob Evans will donate 15 percent of sales from your meals to the Library Foundation through their Dine to Make a Difference Community Fundraiser program. Participants must present a special flier to the cashier at checkout. Fliers are available at the library. The Library Foundation is grateful for your donation.

Toothpaste Drive

for Bulldog Bags

Bulldog Bags Inc. is a community, non-profit organization that provides elementary school children in the Stow-Munroe Falls School District who are on the Federal Free and Reduced Meal program, or otherwise qualified, with a "bridge of nutrition."

This is a cooperative effort between the community and the schools, funded through donations from the community. Interested in participating? Look for the Bulldog Bin in the lobby and drop off medium (approximately 2.7 oz.) tubes of toothpaste to the library.

Tech Tuesday

and Thursday

First come, first served assistance in setting up and familiarizing yourself with your mobile device and learning how to download free books, audiobooks, movies, magazines and more from the library's digital collection.

This one-on-one service takes place every Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 5 p.m., as well as the first and third Tuesday and second and fourth Thursday of each month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Questions? Call 330-688-3295 ext. 4.

Print and eBooks:

Working Together

In addition to lending out physical copies of books, magazines, CDs, DVDs and so on, your library provides a host of electronic materials for free download.

In February, library patrons downloaded 5,781 eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMusic and eVideos. Library patrons also downloaded 943 items from hoopla and 2,168 songs from Freegal. Have you tried downloading electronic materials yet?

If you're not sure how to get started, stop by one of our Tech Tuesday or Tech Thursday sessions and let one of our librarians assist you.

These appointments are first-come, first-served.

You can also just click the Digital Downloads and Streaming link on our homepage to start. All you need is your card number and PIN, which is usually the last four digits of your phone number. Get started.

Free Coffee

The Library offers free coffee and tea to patrons Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Join us in the reference area behind the Information Desk for a hot beverage. Look for a special flavor on Wednesdays.
